Lollipop chair

                                              Here is a lollipop chair thats a family eirloom.
                                 The frame was so so wobbly. all the joints and intersections loose.

                        Needed some banding as the base ring twisted from it being loose for so long.
                                                                    And onto the build up.

                                           All natural horse hair stuffings retained of course.

                              And the finished seat as symmetrical to the chair lines as possible.

Line'em up

There is James Taylor's Line 'em up music if you like.

  

 Here we have what seems to be is a church pew.

Just shy of ten feet in length!

 Customers gonna set this in a dining area.

Gonna fit in the dining room just great.

I removed 2 dust covers and got rid of all the collected dust. as well as tightened up a loose leg.

                                                        One piece, tight fitted dust cover.

                                         Support straps for the inside back on the outside back.

                                                               Inside back upholstered.

                                              And the seat tailored to match the inside back.
                                               Keeping those gimp lines strait as an arrow.

          The owner re-did the wood. She spray painted it with a flat black paint. What a real nice look!

Upholstered wall

Here is a just completed upholstered wall done on one wall at the shop.

Measures 3 feet by 17 feet.

The blocks are 18 and a half by 11 and a half inches.

The golden ratio.

 Brick layered sage green fabric with staggered blocks of one of my leaders from my in stock  fabric books.

 I upholstered above and below the chalkboard to give it a nice full look.

 What a difference in sound in the shop! The wall now really takes away the tin can sounds.

There is a coat of cotton under the fabric to help with the aquistics.

 These upholstered walls really help any noisy room to quiet it down.

 From entry ways for homes or businesses, or waiting rooms an upholstered wall can really set a nice tone.

 This dark green damask would fit well on most older home furnishings.

I elevated the damask plates to add some depth to the wall.

 My son upholstered $50-$300 million dollar yachts and up.

He stated they always upholstered their "safe room" walls.

Where they kept "valuables".

Upholstered walls are so nice in the right places. Dens, safe rooms, studies, entry ways, classrooms etc.

With a variety of fabrics, vinyls, faux leathers, and block patterns to choose from.

This wing back has been all gone through. Inspected with frame repairs as well as some restoration work. With fresh coats of cotton throughout.

 If someone wants to stay out of the furniture box stores for a generation at least, this chair will do the trick. This heavy weight tapestry will take wear very well. 

  What a great chair to spend your evenings in before retiring.

 This chair would make one great gift for someone setting up a home or apartment.

 It's been said that only "rich" folks can afford upholstery. Well maybe thats cause they are not buying disposable furniture every 8 years or so?

American Made Wingback

American made wing back.

 There isn't much American made upholstered furniture anymore. A great amount of the furniture frames are milled in machine milling shops overseas. Sent to america as parts, and final assembly of the frame in the states.  The sewn cushions are ordered to size and style, cut and stitched overseas as well.  There is lots of effort to make upholstered furniture disposable.

 What  classic American made furniture this wingback is.

                                              Fabric chosen from my same day ship in house books.
                                     A new 4 inch cushion with polywrap, replaced the older one.

                  I ordered  6 and three quarters yards. there was really no waste, as shown below.

                                                         Nice clean thin lines. Natural stuffings.

                                                                Custom set arm fronts.

                                               Clean piping as it ties in with the wooden leg.

Lots of tailoring on the inside of this wingback! The fabric pieces cut and stitched. Stuffings refreshed ready to be tailored up.

                                  The inside arms and inside wings sewn together then attached.

New years wing back

Here we got a well made wing back The frame and stuffings went through 30 years of use held up 5 stars.

 Alittle extra padding on the arm tops.Folks push with the palm of their hand each time exiting a chair. 

This owner must be left handed.

 The inside working up well.

 A fresh thin coat of cotton for the inside back.

 And the outside wings backed and lined.

Always aware of the curved lines, that they remain crisp and thin.

 Numbers created for patterning of fabric with no waste.

To create the "heart" of the fabric throughout the chair.

                                                                Clean sharp accented corners.

Down a country road

                                                     A "country road" tune, if you like.
            This pair of chairs came from a beautiful country road in the woods of New Hampshire. Up a lazy valley with 300 year old field and wooden bridges. A piece of heaven on earth.
            After LOTS of staples removed and the old coverings discarded, Ready to tailor up the new fabric chosen out of Barrow Industies books.  Well made frames that have stood the time test. With fabric consultation with every job. My customer was able to choose one grat fabric! 

 The outside arms and backs  are backed and topped with a thin coat of cotton.

                                 Nice clean cuts at the intersections with a hand sewn decking.

                                                                This fabric is so soft and suttle

The "channeled" inside  backs are stripped and re-sewn for nice flowing lines.

 Very carefully.

                                                 With matching mirror pleated inside arms.

                         These sure are gonna' look nice on display over the weekend!
