Barrel back chair & large ottoman

This barrel back upholstered with a nice soft mint green upholstery fabric.

I reworked the base top with repairs to sharpen up the stuffings.

removed 2 layers of old upholstery and added a fresh coat of cotton inside and out.

 Nice thin lines, kept that way.

I tapped open 6 or so joints at several intersections of the wooden frame and glued them up tight.

 The one piece outside with the seams steamed flat.

 The old seat cushion was at least an inch short.

A new foam cushion with custom cut plate.

This one is ready for many years to come.

 This extra large 4 X 2 foot ottoman redesigned and set up with a nice skirt.

 The skirt backed and lined.

 Hard to appreciate this large ottoman in these pics.

What a great accent piece.

Blue velvet wing back

I restored this frame a few months back.

From re gluing the frame to a thin lining.

Original horse hair retained with new cotton.

The new owner supplied a dark blue velvet.

It took a lot of my 20 years home furnishings experience to get this tailored up sharply.

 Nice lines to the front legs.

 The owner asked for extra stuffings on the inside.

There was many hours tailoring up the inside with the smooth velvet fabric.

 The outsides backed and lined with a thin coat of cotton.

 The edges of the frame lines kept sharp to draw out all the lines as well as piping run along the frame edges.

 Clean intersections.

 What nice lines of the frame.

1880's New York Made

Here is one special chair with a real nice sitting height and with an extra "beefed up" frame.

What nice carvings.

There sure was lots of tacks to come out of this frame.

 I used three quarters of a quart of filler to get a proper nailing lines throughout the frame.

 The base springs had all fallen over and needed to be built up from the start.

 Hand tied the springs.

 A coat of traditional burlap.

 The hay dusted out and reworked.

 With the horsehair returned.

This horsehair has been in service for a hundred and thirty years and is just like the day the chair was created.

 And a nice thick coat of cotton batting.

 And a thin lining fully upholstered to set the stuffings in place.

And a thin coat of cotton on top of the lining and then the burgundy fabric.

 I rolled the chair on it's head to put on the bottom dust cover and the leg broke at the "cup".

 This non crack body filler will get this leg repaired properly.

 With a long half inch dowel deep drilled into the leg will do this repair beyond criticism.

And a matching color and shade French gimp really helps accent this old timer.

And this one is ready for many years of service.

Wing Back Upholstery

Here is a nice solid framed wing back with quality modern stuffings, probably 30 years or so old.

This photo taken as the tailoring process is on it's way back up.

 The hand sewn attached decking and nosing with 4 inch lower belting

 Custom arm caps.

 Double rolled arms.

 The outsides backed and lined with cotton and piping applied for sharp crisp lines.

 The fabric was chosen from the in stock fabric library.

The foam custom cut with a fresh coat of poly wrap glued on to the foam for a nice tailored look.

 Full fitted arm covers not shown.

Pontoon boat upholstery new hampshire

Here is some seats to a pontoon party boats to be upholstered.

Here are the old covers and the frames stripped and foam steamed back to original shape.

 A good quality marine grade expanded vinyl will really help for a nice job.

Keeping an eye on all hardware to be replaced in the proper place for installation to the boat.

 The railings removed and contoured seams all patterned off the frame and existing foam.

 The fields agressively swept, so to keep the fields as taught as possible.

 The screen fabric re-used as the fabric retails for over $32 a yard.

And another coat of "hide-em-welt cording all around.

 The old hinge holes not buried for installation.

Nice clean and neat intersections and corners.

 

These seat cushions required advance patterning.

  It took all of my 20 plus years patterning fabric to get these seats clean and acceptable.
