All In The Family

This  Awesome chair has been in one family for generations. The frame had all loosened up from the glue deteriorating over time. What great carvings and caracter. The inside back restored.

Custom oversize tacks set in the same original pattern.
                                                                     Nice lower crown.
What a classic fabric. Draws out all the caracter of the chair. Without over taking all the wood carvings.
Arm carving is sure worth a picture.
The joints that wanted to "tap" open were glued up with hide glue. Most of them opened up easily. The ones that didn't were left alone.
I tied another coat of hand tied springs to the top springs before replacing the horse hair with coats of cotton.

A hundred years passed before this one needed any restoration work. Sure can't say that with most corporate home furnishings.
