Arch Ottoman

This very original ottoman needs some attention.
The old burlap was really deteriorated.
Could be a hundred years or more.
Before WW1 I would say.
I drilled a couple holes so as not to use nailed buttons as they have a tendency to pop.
Older upholstery was always soft set with the backings.
Who's to argue with that.

Here shows the 1st 2 buttons attached.
14 buttons total.
Lots of fiddling to get this put up acceptable.
Double piping for the trim edge will not complicate the piece with gimp.
Button tufting is time consuming and challenging.
It tailored up acceptable.
There is always room for improvement in tufting as an art.
I keep trying to improve at it of course.
