Blue Barrells

Here is a great pair of Barrell back chairs.
I sure enjoyed tailoring up this pair. Symmetry with both pieces is the goal.
                                                         Tailored up together
The matching of the weltings with the fabrics.

Smooth outside backs (backed and lined)with matching skirt.(surged and backed and lined)
Strait flow of fabric pattern as it flows out of the cushion.
Matching lines as it flows from the inside back over the top to the outside back.
                                                          Matching under skirts matched.
All matching fabric lines as it flows up from the skirt over the top all centered.
And a picture from outside at the finished pair. Sure will look good once the sun sets with some display lights on them.

High striped porch cushions

There are a few places where bright and bold colors fit in. Porches and boats.
Here are 2 six foot cushions made from scratch to fill a porch setting area.
Note the field the pipings and the beltings front and back all match. this fabric was 54 inches across so there are seams in the field cut and sewn to match the pattern.

200 year old sofa

Here I have a 1790 to 1820 cheridan sofa probably made in New England. Shown here with all the upholstery fabric removed. Note the broke and twisted arm.

Here is the removable seat base. the webbing has seen its life. (probably 80 years or more.

Straw and horsehair 200 years old.
Close up of an old break.
The new traditional webbing set in place.
All the traditional stuffings dusted out and reset in place.
Fresh coats of cotton for a topping. a full lining to set the stuffings and it's ready for final  upholstery fabric.
The outside arms and back lined  before the upholstery was applied.
And the sofa ready to go home. With the arm repair (a local wood artisan repaired the arm). 6 and a half yards of fabric completed this sofa. Nice solid frame with a great sitting height.
