Snowbird bedroom ottoman

Here Is an 48 inch ottoman for the foot of a bed. In stock fabric was chosen to be tailored up on it's way to a Florida home before the snow flies.
I "simplified" the covering by not using piping and top stitching the perimeter seam instead. For a nice clean practical look.

The trim used to tie in with the wood was an in stock "gimp" with matching color and shade. Wood freshened up from paint scrapes to scratches.

Thanks for looking!

Bird Wing back with ottoman

Here I have a wing back that's plaid has worn out it's welcome.
Included is an ottoman, side "lumbar pillow" and deep fitted arm covers to be re-upholstered.
Here the frame is complete. I am disappointed in these pictures. The pics are not worthy of the fabric.....Sorry.
Here is the ottoman and pillow all worked up.

And a matching set of deep fitted arm covers, surged.

A view of the top of the ottoman.

 With lumbar pillow on top.

And here the outside wings backed and lined.

And outside back, outside wings, and base , with piping accent piping set proud. Outside fabrics backed and lined. The exposed wood was all freshened up with "restor-a-finish. Very little repairs was needed on this well built chair.

superb side chair

Here is a high hand carved side chair. Needs some attention after a lifetime of use.
What great carvings. Oden with felines of some type at the top of the pillars.

My photography was lacking for the frame restoration. 90 percent of the joints tapped open for re-gluing. Done in two gluing sessions. freshened up the finished wood also.

Here shows traditional jute webbing with 9 coil springs hand tied.

Traditional furniture wants to stay just that.  All the horsehair and straw was reset onto the base after a good dusting out and inspection. With a nice inch and a half  rolled edge. Traditional straw stuffings.

What great stuffings. over a hundred and still going strong. Tailored horsehair right before a coat of fresh cotton. And of course a lining is upholstered over the base to set the stuffings. Then a thin coat of cotton THEN the finish upholstery fabric.
And the piece, all finished up ready for time.

This fabric shipped same day from my supplier . It's called a "transitional " fabric.(thanks Kim !) Older pieces work well to draw out the caracter and age of this chair with older furniture that has stood the test of time, but with a new twist.

The seat or "base" tailored up nice and tight. Like a drum.
Double piping was used to tie the trim to the wood edge. There are several ways to close out the trim edge. Double piping sewn up in the shop out of the matching fabric gives the piece a nice smooth flow.

A pair of recliner wing backs

Here is a pair of wingback recliners. Traditional factory manurfactured.  They have held up very well because of the quality materials used very seldom seen in most recliners purchased today.
Here is the two seat units from the old to the new.
The inside back units mirror tailored up.

The arm base units all re upholstered.

And the pair completed ready for a night display in the shop window.

South of the border

Here is the way That a wing back that arrived from massachusetts to the workroom.
That was great the owner saved all the old coverings.
The fabric was thin and delicate. Taping the plygrip gives a nice clean smooth look.
With a thin backing of corron on the outside wings and outside arms.

And the finished piece ready to go back home. Nice clean smooth fabric.
And the frame, solid as ever since the day it was made.

I thinned out all the cottons to give it nice traditional thin lines.
