West side furniture

This awesome living room chair was created in California about 50 years ago.  Structurally the frame and the stuffings are in great shape.  One of the front arms was loose at the base.  I tapped open the joint and glued and clamped it up for 36 hours.  After removing lots of old fabric, staples and tacks so to have clean lines for upholstering.

The fabric with a oriental theme imported from France.

 Here shows the outside arms and outside back horizontally matched backed and lined.

 

And the same with the inside back cushion and the inside back frame.

 And the inside arms and back match.

Some of the rolled under decorative tack work.

 Really nice carvings.

And the back cushion belly cut to marry with the seat cushion.

What great value upholstering is when its tailored up with a fabric of choice.

Federal love seat

Been a while since this fine piece of furniture has had any attention.

The fabric was chosen from my in stock fabric library.

 New 2 inch super soft back cushions.

 With a fresh coat of cotton on top.

 I reinforced the arms.

 Pattern matched horizontally as well as vertical.

 Clip retainers for the cushion.

 And the finished piece.

 Should be good for a couple generations more.

In my humble opinion federal sofas and love seats are really nice pieces to have in ones home.

Here is one real solid east lake style furniture from the 1880's.

Shown below with the old fabric staples and tacks removed.

 The owner supplied this fabric. There was some wavy wrinkles that would not go away upon tailoring, So I steamed most of them out before upholstering.

 And the piece completed.

French Provincial chair

There was lots of staples in this older chair. What a solid frame.

The design really tested my upholstery skills.

Here shows the inside back that needs full restoration.

 All old materials stripped down and discarded.

 Fresh traditional burlap attached.

 With a coat of new fabric on top.

 Fresh cotton for back stuffing under the foam.

And the piece completed.

The double piping ties into the wood as clean and smooth as possible.

 The contrasting fabric really keeps this chair looking smart.

cushion work

This fabric was chosen from my in stock fabric library.

I am building up quite a selection for a small one man shop.

What great value.

These 6 cushions came off a sofa.

Below shows the back cushion zippers sewn up uniformly.

 The foam was stripped and fresh .875 poly wrap glued on.

 Note the pattern is constant across all the cushions.

 And throughout the belting.

 And vertically from the seat cushion to the back cushion.

 All inspected and ready to go back to their home.

And here shows the cushions in place.

Plaid wing back

Here is a 30 year old quality wing back that neeeded some fresh fabric tailored up.

 The high stripes keep me alert to have the stripes match throughout horizontally and vertically.

 And from the front decking right up through the chair.

 Piping and belting included.

 The lower inside back where it meets the seat cushion.

 Here shows the zipper and back piping centered.

And a matching ottoman from my "orphan ottoman" boneyard.

 Nice clean lines.

No waves.
