Day bed upholstery

This sofa style is one of the best ever created.
With a full 7 foot in length and a full depth of 29 inches when the back cushions are removed.
The fabric was supplied by the owner.
A new type of micro suede that has the appearance of a woven fabric.
Tough stuff, with no stretch.
Below the outsides backed and lined with a thin coat of cotton.

With full skirts backed and lined worked up nice and smooth.
 Deep fitted arm covers

With the new foam desired by the owner in the seat cushions.
I worked up the size of the cushions to fill the inside very nicely.

Antique American Sofa

This old parlor day bed has seen plenty of time.
Fresh thin coats of cotton help fine tailor this estimated 150 year old sofa.
The exposed wood accepted some freshening up.

The sofa is ready to go back to it's home.
A nice tightly set base with the stuffings set nice and thin.
The gimp applied neat and crisp.

Bentwood rocker

This rocker is probably 130 years old.
Gonna take some time to freshen' up this old timer.

The base was all cracked and nailed seams broke loose.
And a broken back frame.

Here is the base cleaned up. Glued and brought back in shape.
And the wood stained.
Before and after.

Great fabric for this old timer.
The camera doesn't do the fabric justice.

Complete and ready for another hundred years.

french pillow topped ottomans

I have been asked to design and upholster 2 French antique ottomans per specs.
The European strapping has seen it's life.
you can see that I easily tore the strapping with my fingers.
I very carefully reset new strapping to keep the same belly set that was original.

And hand sewn the original hay and straw stuffings back in place.
Below shows all the silk designed and cut, ready for final assembly.
I have been working with silk on and off for years and designed the assembly to get these pieces put together acceptable.
Below shows the piece sewn up ready for a insert cushion.
Fresh 80/20 feather and down inserts being packed in down proof ticking.
And both inserts weighed up the same to match the pair.
And the covers upholstered onto the frames.
And what a great choice for the gimp to top off these very special ottomans.
