french pillow topped ottomans

I have been asked to design and upholster 2 French antique ottomans per specs.

 The European strapping has seen it's life.

you can see that I easily tore the strapping with my fingers.

 I very carefully reset new strapping to keep the same belly set that was original.

 And hand sewn the original hay and straw stuffings back in place.

 Below shows all the silk designed and cut, ready for final assembly.

I have been working with silk on and off for years and designed the assembly to get these pieces put together acceptable.

 Below shows the piece sewn up ready for a insert cushion.

 Fresh 80/20 feather and down inserts being packed in down proof ticking.

 And both inserts weighed up the same to match the pair.

 And the covers upholstered onto the frames.

And what a great choice for the gimp to top off these very special ottomans.
