Damask sofa

Here is a couple of pics, as the sofa arrived for reupholstery.
What a well made sofa. The design numbers are not within the 54-27.5 and 13 inch design formatt that furniture makers have worked within for a long time. I found that out when I started cutting the fabric off the bolt. Pic shows the numbers for every cutting needed.

Here shows the decking set for the top hand sewing.
fresh coat of cotton improves the base.

The second hand sewing for the upper nosing.

Final hand sewing line for the lower nosing.

The inside arm fresh coat of cotton after the old coverings removed.
Here shows the inside tailored up.

The outside arms and outside back lined before upholstery.

Time for the skirt. note the surged skirt piping.
Strait lined down over 6 feet.
Skirt attached.
 Backed and surged and lined.

The skirts flow with the pattern nicely.

Here shows one of the seamed lines neccesary because of the 54 inch wide fabric.
Patterns lined up as planned.
Below shows the centering up through and over.

Here completed and ready to go.
What a challenge working with a tight amount of fabric.

Thanks for looking

  1. Awesome job! What a great example of matching up the fabric from top to bottom.
